High blood pressure, also termed as hypertension, is considered a silent killer. More often than not, people have hypertension without showing any apparent symptoms. If a person has hypertension, this must be lowered or it can be fatal. What are the different high blood pressure cures?

Diuretics are known as the first-line of treatment for high blood pressure. Diuretics function in lowering blood pressure by flushing out the excess water and salt in the body by urination. On the other hand, the use of diuretics can result to different side effects like skin rash, fever, dehydration, blurred vision, dizziness, muscle cramps, extreme tiredness, abnormal heart rate, frequent urination, and others.

Another treatment for high blood pressure is through the use of ACE or angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors. Blood pressure is reduced by ACE inhibitors by blood vessel dilation which increases blood flow. The side effects of ACE inhibitors include cough, skin rash, salty or metallic taste, sore throat, fever, swelling of neck or face, kidney failure, severe vomiting, diarrhea, and many more.

Another type of drugs used to treat hypertension are angiotensin II receptor blockers or ARBs. Through a different mechanism, ARBs can increase blood flow like ACE inhibitors do. These drugs work by blocking angiotensin II which is responsible in narrowing the blood vessels. Since angiotensin II is blocked, blood vessels are widened which result in increased blood flow. Side effects of ARBs include dizziness, diarrhea, muscle cramps, confusion, cough, and many more.

Beta-blockers are another type of drugs used for the treatment of hypertension. With the use of beta-blockers, the effects of adrenaline on the heart are blocked thereby making the heart function with less blood and oxygen. Beta-blockers have side effects like edema, dizziness, depression, fatigue, slow heartbeat, and others.

Calcium channel blockers are also drugs that treat high blood pressure. Through the use of calcium channel blockers, the movement of calcium into the cells of the blood vessels and heart is slowed down. With slowed movement of calcium, there is dilation of the blood vessels as well as efficient pumping for the heart. The side effects of calcium channel blockers include dizziness, dry mouth, edema, headache, nausea, fatigue, skin rash, constipation, diarrhea, and many more.

As you can see, all these medicines used to treat high blood pressure have so many probable side effects. The good news is that there are strategies to treat hypertension which do not cause side effects. Examples of lifestyle changes that can reduce high blood pressure are smoking cessation, proper diet, less alcoholic consumption, and regular exercise. Proper diet in order to lower hypertension means eating more vegetables, fruits, whole-grain products, low-fat dairy products, and fish. Hypertension is also effectively treated with proper exercise which means doing it for 30 to 60 minutes thrice to four times a week.

The fact is these high blood pressure cures are effective in treating hypertension minus the side effects. You must utilize these natural treatment methods for hypertension.

Indeed, high blood pressure can be reduced by using natural cures without the side effects. Try the various high blood pressure cures and experience the rewards yourself.

Can You Control Your Blood Pressure Easily?

Controlling high blood pressure can be a preventative way to avoid the biggest cause of death in the United States. You must start by knowing what a healthy blood pressure number is and then you might understand how your systolic and diastolic numbers are affected during your day. Most people don’t even know that they have high blood pressure, hence the precursor to cardiovascular disease goes unchecked.

A healthy blood pressure is 120/80 or less. The top number is the systolic number that measures the active part of the flow, basically your heart beat as it pumps blood through your body. The bottom number is the diastolic number that is registered between beats or when you heart is resting. These numbers are obtained through using a stethoscope and a special cuff that measures pressure.

When your blood pressure goes higher than 140/90, that is a strain on the heart which causes this fist-sized organ to work harder. Cardiovascular disease is the cause of death in 1 out of every 3 Americans. It is important to keep the pressure at or below the norm for proper heart functions with as little strain on the heart as possible. Several things can cause your blood pressure to rise to unhealthy levels. Be aware of how to lower you pressure.

If your cholesterol is high, your veins are being lined with fatty residue known as plaque which makes them smaller in diameter. The pressure rises as the heart tries to push the blood through the smaller opening. Your heart is working twice as hard as it should be. Your doctor will help you understand the benefit of a healthy diet that helps eliminate the plaque.

What can you do about changing the numbers? If your high blood pressure is associated with a kidney disease or other illness, the doctor will treat those problems and your pressure should change. If the high blood pressure is due to your lifestyle, you can take control. Trading old habits for new ones that are beneficial can make a dramatic difference in lowering pressure. The new habits may not come easily, but the changes are necessary for reducing your blood pressure numbers.

Many physical problems today can be helped by adopting a healthier lifestyle. If you smoke, quit. If you drink heavily, modify your drinking. If you find that you can’t modify and reduce alcohol consumption, consider that you may want to find out if you have a problem with alcohol. Eat more fruits and vegetable and hold the salt. Read the food labels, and you will be amazed at the sodium content of prepared foods and snack foods.

Learning ways of controlling high blood pressure is essential before it controls your life. A few lifestyle changes made today such as becoming more active or eating a proper diet can contribute to a much healthier body and help you avoid problems down the road.

First, the anti-hypertensive medications are indeed very effective in controlling my high blood pressure. For the past ten years, there have been only rare occasions that my blood pressure shot up and these usually happened because I forgot to take the anti-hypertensive medications. Not to mention the amount of scientific research that have already established the efficacy of these different anti-hypertensive drugs.

I have decided to look for cures for high blood pressure since I have been on these drugs for the past ten years and it seems that I would have to keep on taking them for the rest of my life. When I asked my doctor if I can be off the drugs anytime soon, he told me that it is impossible to do so because once I stop taking the drugs, my blood pressure will surely rise.

If I also leave my blood pressure high for a long time, this may lead to serious diseases like heart attack and stroke. And of course, I also do not want this to happen. But on the other hand, I also do want to be on these anti-hypertensive medications for the rest of my life. And so, I asked my doctor if he can tell me other strategies that can help in lowering my blood pressure.

Well, he did not take me off the drugs yet but he did discuss with me certain methods that can lower my blood pressure. He further said that if I diligently follow these strategies, I can significantly lower my blood pressure and he may be able to take me off the anti-hypertensive drugs. In the beginning, he did not want to risk taking me off the anti-hypertensive drugs while I was using other methods in lowering blood pressure.

One method that my doctor told me is diet. For the past ten years, I have been vigilant of what I eat although I have not really been to a dietitian. In order to better understand the DASH diet, I had a consultation with a dietitian.

When it comes to diet for hypertension, the DASH diet is the best one. Since certain nutrients like fiber, potassium, magnesium, and calcium have been established to help in lowering blood pressure, the intake of foods rich in these nutrients is increased. Furthermore, the dietitian told me about the importance of limiting my alcohol, salt, and sweets intake. Furthermore, I also learned that I definitely need to reduce my consumption of red meats and processed foods.

In my search for finding the cures for high blood pressure, I also learned about other methods like exercise and stress reduction. Ever since the time that I used these methods in conjunction with taking anti-hypertensive drugs, my doctor has noted a significant decrease in my blood pressure which prompted him to keep on decreasing my dosage for drugs.

Are you wondering if there are really cures for high blood pressure? There are many different methods that can cure hypertension.

A Diagnosis Of High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is caused by the blood flowing through the arteries at a much higher pressure than in a normal healthy person, and is also known as hypertension. Hypertension can be primary or secondary, with most cases being primary, or where there is no real cause for having hypertension. Secondary cases are much rarer, and is where other major organs in the body can be affected.

Being diagnosed with hypertension is not good news as it may cause strokes, kidney failure and can even contribute to heart attacks. Overall, if left untreated it would generally result in that persons lifespan being shorter than it should have been. Luckily there are effective treatments available for hypertension, and medication and a change in lifestyle can often bring a persons blood pressure to within normal limits.

When a persons blood pressure is measured it is then checked against known healthy ranges for that persons age. These readings are done by measuring two different kinds of pressure which are the systolic pressure which is that found in the blood vessels during a heartbeat, and diastolic pressure which is that found in the blood vessels between beats. A slightly higher reading can indicate pre hypertension, while a high reading indicates hypertension.

Substituting an unhealthy lifestyle for a healthier one is enough for a lot of people to bring their levels down into a normal range, and is a worthwhile commitment to make for such big health gains. For others just changing their lifestyle is not enough and they will need medication to help bring the levels down to within normal levels.

One measure is to decrease the amount of salt found in a persons diet, and this has been found to be very effective. Methods can include using a salt substitute, and eating more fresh vegetables and fruit, and following a diet which is low in fat and dairy products. Increasing potassium intake in the diet, by maybe eating more bananas, can help to offset the sodium.

Taking more exercise is also useful as it increased the blood flow and helps with weight loss. Cardiovascular exercise obviously helps to strengthen the heart and to reduce the resting pulse rate.

Smoking and drinking are known to increase blood pressure as well as contributing towards strokes and heart attacks, so decreasing or stopping use of these items will help decrease hypertension.

Stress levels should be kept to a minimum as increased levels can cause hypertension. Relaxation methods like yoga and meditation could be tried.

There are a lot of people who are suffering from high blood pressure but who are unaware of the fact. Governments have been working to try to make the public more aware of this ailment, as it is easier and less costly to put right when in the early stages, and will lead to an increased life expectancy.
